Summary: As a member of the Systems Engineering team you will be working closely with the SW development team and QA to define SW design and verification requirements for our LTE based products. You will also participate in characterization and verification of LTE small cell features and Live Air Verification of the small cell products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define Test strategy and perform tests for validation of algorithms and features of Commscope Small Cell products.

  • Define test plans and perform Live Air Verification tests

  • Work with QA and SIT teams on devising and reviewing test plans.

  • Work with development teams to generate appropriate work estimates

  • Work with engineering teams on system-level design and providing detailed Engineering Requirements (functional, operational and performance).

  • Review requirements with cross functional teams.

  • Contribute to and review architecture and design specifications.

  • Review and provide feedback on technical documents written throughout the organization.

  • Propose new, creative solutions for tough, system-wide problems.

  • Produce white papers and technical memorandums for customers and for internal teams.

  • Continually evaluate, influence and advance internal design efforts to improve product development processes and ensure carrier-class quality.

  • The position may require some software development and review of software.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of systems engineering concepts (definition and analysis for requirements, performance, capacity, FMECA, availability, reliability, scalability, etc)

  • Proven track record for testing, deep dive troubleshooting and solving complex real world cellular network and handset issues

  • Hands on experience and familiarity with lab equipment as well as wireless data collection tools like QXDM, XCAL, NEMO, etc.

  • Extensive experience with post processing tools like QCAT, Wiindcatecher, Actix, XCAP, etc.

  • Expertise in at least one layer of LTE technology and standards.

  • Expertise in at least one wireless technology (wifi, 3GPP/3GPP2, …)

  • Expertise in IP and related technologies including IPv4, IPv6, IPSEC, Routing protocols, Networking protocols, Security Protocols, SIP.

  • Expert-level understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and user experience metrics

  • Experience with scripting languages like TCL, Perl, Python for test automation desirable

  • Familiarity with Element Management Systems.

  • Familiarity with simulation techniques and tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required Education/Experience:

  • MS in EE with 4+years of experience or PhD with 2+ years of experience. Experienced engineers with BS degrees and higher years of experience may be considered.
