- Support product development and product engineering efforts ensuring products meet industry specifications, reliability requirements, and customer needs. Design and implement test plans for product evaluation and product qualification. Seek continual improvements to lab processes to improve efficiency within test laboratories. Pursue knowledge in test technologies that will be advantageous for CommScope Copper Systems (CCS).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform Root Cause Analysis on a variety of problems using established methods and tools.
Utilize FMEA tools to identify potential problems within designs or processes to eliminate failures.
Perform requested electrical, reliability, and HF transmission tests submitted by internal customers for evaluation or qualification.
Apply understanding of telecommunication standards (TIA, IEC, UL) to conduct appropriate tests with lab instrumentation.
Generate test procedures that will determine reliability of products.
Create descriptive and accurate test reports to summarize test efforts.
Program interfaces using NI LabVIEW to communicate with lab instrumentation to maximize test efficiency and minimize human error.
Collaborate with core team members to complete product qualification tests.
Support test technicians.
Perform cross-sections on samples to aid in determining root cause failure.
Operate network analyzers/ field cable analyzers to perform component and systems tests for copper solutions.
Subjecting products to thermal and humidity exposure within environmental chambers to determine effects.
Related Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related curriculum with 5-10 Years of Related Experience.
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related curriculum with 2-5 Years of Related Experience
Experience with RCA tools like 5-Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, Pareto analysis, etc.
Strong aptitude in Failure Mode and Effect Analysis for problem resolution.
Extensive background in applied statistical methods for data analysis (e.g. DOE).
Possess expertise in utilizing lab equipment such as digital multi-meters, DC power supplies, tensile testers, dielectric testers, environmental chambers and etc.
Familiarity with copper telecommunications industry and related standards.
Knowledge in NI LabVIEW is preferred.
Candidate must be proficient in MS Office.
Must be independent, motivated, analytical, and resourceful with excellent communication skills to work with maximum effectiveness within a team and across organizational boundaries.
