We are currently recruiting for a SAP Basis Administrator for an opportunity located in Hickory, NC, Joliet, IL, Richardson, TX or Omaha, NE.
The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP systems. Additional responsibilities include configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment, scheduling and executing the SAP transport system, design of interfaces between SAP and external systems, optimizing and analyzing performance issues, and the design architectures of the landscape.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Install, upgrade, and maintain the database and SAP application systems.
•Assist in the planning, designing, and architecting of the database and SAP application landscape across a variety of platforms and databases.
•Serve as a resource to IT Business Analysts, customers, and ABAP Developers in designing, configuring and implementing an SAP system supporting business and operational needs.
•Plan and install support packs, conduct upgrades, manage backups/recovery, system refresh and troubleshooting, as well as conducting failover testing and validation.
•Propose and implement enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems.
•Develop, manage, and test the storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures.
•Proactively monitor systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
•Monitor, analyze, identify and respond to trends in system performance and resource utilization within the SAP technology stack, work with the required teams to identify database, hardware and network failure scenarios, determine root cause and assist in resolution of issues.
•Install and test new versions of the SAP application and database software.
•Collaborate across IT groups to assist in driving solutions in support of all SAP technical operation strategy.
•Document problems with external support personnel, communicate with developers, help desk, and other support personnel to resolve system issues.
•Create technical operations procedural guides that effectively document all areas of the technical landscape to ensure consistent maintenance and support.
•Prepare regular status reports and performance metrics for consolidated status reports.
•Learn and stay current on the features and functionality of application software and databases, focusing on technology to improve performance, availability, reliability, stability and work efficiencies.
•Interpersonal skill sufficient for frequent interaction at a middle management level – both internal and external – under conditions which will reach high levels of intensity

•Capacity to participate as a team member on multiple projects ranging from routine to highly complex and difficult; acceptable results will require initiative, broad judgment, integration of multiple fields of knowledge (technical and business), and development of problem solutions for which there is little precedent
•Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years related experience
•Broad comprehension of database and SAP application systems, particularly in client/server and high-availability environments
•Experience with on call duty for 24x7 production support
•Communicate in a professional manner when interacting across staff levels and internal/external
