We are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available Wireless Systems Mechanical Design Engineer for an opportunity located in Richardson, TX or Euless, TX.
The Engineer will work in the wireless MetroCell engineering solutions group. He or she will develop MetroCell wireless solutions composed of products from CommScope’s wireless Business Units.
Work with MetroCell Product Line Managers to create high value customer proposals.
Assist MetroCell PLM in the generation of new product ideas driven by customer feedback and market trends.
Lead and create designs of complex wireless systems and generate associated product assembly drawings/documentation for manufacturing.
Collaborate with manufacturing during the design cycle to optimize design for assembly.
Perform or oversee the thermal analysis of wireless system cooling designs.
Refine the MetroCell product portfolio with design enhancements and cost optimization.
Support thermal technology road maps for MetroCell Solutions.
Collaborate with mechanical/structural design engineers of the wireless solutions.
Develop product bills of material and oversee product BOM loading into SAP.
Good understanding of wireless technologies and a basic knowledge of CRAN and 5G networks.
Work closely with other CommScope Business Units to optimize the integration of their products into new wireless systems.
Travel to CommScope factory locations to introduce new product designs into manufacturing, and assist with the development of factory assembly work instructions.
A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Mechanical Engineering with a heat transfer/fluids focus is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years in the design and fabrication of wireless solutions with an emphasis on thermal design. Proficiency in solid modeling software and data management – Solidworks, SAP/PLM
Work experience in electronics cooling involving the use of thermal engineering principles and practices.
Thermal design and analysis experience to the extent that oversight can be provided to consultants performing the analysis. Demonstrable experience in 6 Sigma ET or other simulation tools.
Proficiency in large electronic assembly, sheet metal, machined part, and plastic part designs.
