We are currently recruiting for an Hardware Test Engineer II to join our team in Richardson, TX.
This Validation Test Engineer will be an integral member of the CommScope Global Reliability organization supporting the Validation and Material Analysis teams for Telecommunications business units in Richardson, Texas. Primary responsibilities include Product Performance Testing for Base Station Antennas, Filters, Connectors, Wireless, Broadband products and Materials testing. You will lead and support reliability assurance activities, new product analysis through HALT and on-going reliability efforts. Activities include testing, measuring and analyzing the mechanical, electrical, environmental and functional performance of systems and subsystems using automated and manual test equipment. You will also be expected to contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the team through automation tool development. This is a “hands-on” problem solving position with opportunities to address new product designs as well as making improvements to current products.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Plan and execute Design Validation, Product Validation, New Materials and On-going Reliability Testing for Telecommunications products documenting findings thoroughly and promptly.
Participate in cross-functional teams for yield improvement, Failure and Root Cause Analysis, cost reduction and new supplier & material introduction. Knowledge of DFSS tools and methods desired.
Participate with design teams researching new material, low cost part risk evaluation and including test plan definition, execution and schedule.
Participate in customer technical document reviews, bid preparations and witness testing.
Develop, maintain and support automation software tools including integration of serial, GPIB, wireless and industry standard protocols.
Document and train others on use of automation tools and capabilities
Support and improve existing automated test platforms including full integration of measurement tools with various environmental test chambers and equipment.
Coordinate reliability test procedures and practices with other CommScope groups and resolve conflicting requirements.
Analyze field reliability data to identify areas for improvement. Document findings, and work with engineering to help determine actions.
Support and lead DfR (Design for Reliability) activities for Active Wireless Systems cost reduction project teams to assure acceptable risks for both CommScope and customers.
A completed Bachelor's Degree required in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related fields, Master's Degree preferred.
Requires 2 or more years’ experience in Validation, Reliability, Design & Development, Environmental or Material Testing and Analysis.
Demonstrated experience developing and supporting test chamber and tool automation software
Experience planning, executing and reporting results of DV (Design Validation) and PV(Product Validation) testing.
Knowledge of FMEA, MSA, PPAP and APQP desired.
Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills with a clear understanding of failure mode and root cause analysis.
Must be well-organized and able to accomplish tasks independently while meeting deadlines and commitments.
Electronic systems, components and/or materials performance testing experience, including RF, Wireless and Fiber Products testing and failure analysis experience is strongly desired.
Experience executing environmental testing and test automation development using commercially available programs such as LabVIEW, Test Stand or other programming languages strongly desired.
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn and apply new skills.
Knowledge of at least one Reliability Engineering technical competency and familiarity with related disciplines such as Design of Experiments, statistical analysis methods, failure rate prediction and international reliability/environmental testing standards.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in and lead cross functional teams, accomplish tasks through influencing others and coordinate resources to meet customer expectations.
Able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external customers and/or suppliers, both orally and in writing, in English.
Knowledge of and experience using basic statistical tools to analyze, summarize and present data in an understandable format.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and able to routinely create test procedures and plans, document test reports and deliver presentations to multiple functional levels is critical.
Able and willing to travel approximately 10% of the time and locally as needed to support 3rd party testing.
