Should Costing is a scientific and objective method to arrive at the right price to manufacture or produce a product with given features and quality in a given geographical location based on its manufacturing process. The Global Should Cost Engineer reports to the Should Cost Manager and is responsible for creating cost models in support of achieving optimal piece part pricing through fact based negotiations with the supply base. With should cost analysis the Global Should Cost Engineer attempts to understand the underlying labor and material cost drivers to simulate the expected price. This "should cost" becomes the baseline reference point used by the procurement team to negotiate final pricing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop category specific should cost models in support of NPI and Category management’s negotiations with the supply base.

  • Support the Procurement group’s negotiations using Should Cost tools as a technical expert and join the negotiations when required.

  • Optimize the Should Costing software to accurately cost components for the Metal Fabrication Category

  • Maintain a database of costed parts

  • Update Should Cost database with market specific information such as current material cost.

  • Work on Value Engineering ideation, proposals and implementation actions.

  • Liaison and collaborate with the various business functions for above responsibilities.

  • Analyze the global category spend and identify savings opportunities based on the Should Cost of a part versus the current price.

  • Provide the timely execution of costing requests

  • Work in conjunction with business units, engineering, and category management to identify new cost savings opportunities.

  • Serve as the global costing expert for the Metal Fabrication category.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial engineering.

  • 5+ years of Manufacturing/Process experience in the field of Metal Fabrication preferred.

  • A knowledge of the various Metal Fabrication process – Hard Tooled Stamping, CNC Punching and Bending, Welding, etc.

  • Experience in Procurement, Materials/Purchasing or Integrated Supply Chain business processes is a plus.

  • Very strong analytical skills coupled with excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office tools and ERP systems.

  • Prior familiarity with Should Costing Software and CAD is a plus

  • English: Fluent

  • Can work flex hours for meetings with teams in North America, Europe, and Asia.
