Job Title : Engineer I, Quality

General Summary : Provide quality engineering service to all areas of the business unit operation, primarily in design/development process, supplied product, manufacturing processes. Liase with customer quality assurance representatives for sales order acceptance tests and inspections.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Work with Operations on the development of product quality plans.

  • Work with design/development group-input at design reviews, participate in drawing change request reviews

  • Co-ordinate first article and product qualification of new and modified products, i.e trial build of product.

  • Constantly evaluate performance / methodology of receiving inspection dept.

  • Coordinate customer inspection – organise product (by sample) for customer verification, prepare reports etc.

  • Participate in returned goods evaluation

  • Support the manufacturing process by:

  • Process error prevention methodology such as FMEA’s, Control Plan

  • Working closely with operations facilitator and process engineer on new process developments, creating SOP’s

  • Working with Process Engineering and Operations in PDP & PTP Process

  • Developing and monitoring CTQ programs

  • monitoring process capability – SPC etc

  • Conducting internal audits

  • Leading Continuous improvements projects using Six Sigma and Lean tools

  • Recognise customer expectations and implement (or promote) appropriate procedures/awareness to ensure BU satisfaction.

  • Have ownership for controlling and ensuring root cause analysis and preventive actions are implemented for Customer Notification and Product Notification

  • Participate in Material Review Board – preventive actions.

  • Create and present appropriate quality measures.

  • Liase with customer QA personnel (BSNL) and oversee the preparation and submission of orders requiring testing and inspections

  • Any other relevant job as per management requirement

  • Able to work within teams as an active participating member.

  • Able to work with minimum supervision.

  • Able to manage Customer representatives, often in exacting circumstances and maintain a professional attitude at all times.

Judgments and Decisions :

  • In absence of Quality Supervisor/Quality Manager, will make decisions on a variety of topics on suppliers, process etc, to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Will make decision within specified procedures and criteria associated with supplier surveys, MRB’s, deviation authorisation, quality/product standards.

Qualification : Bachelors in Engineering

Experience : 3+ Years of Related Experience. Experience in quality engineering in high volume/mix manufacturing environment.

Skills :

  • Include demonstrated competencies of physical, mental & interpersonal skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of quality engineering techniques for FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) & problem solving such as 8D Concern Analysis.

  • Thorough knowledge of quality systems i.e. ISO 9001, ISO 9000-2000.

  • Computer Literate

  • Proficient communicator and interpersonal skills to deal with wide range of external and internal contacts.
